Under the Knife Surgical Procedures: Rhinoplasty

You may have heard of a Rhinoplasty procedure before you were not sure exactly what it meant. Maybe you were watching Access Hollywood or E! News and heard that a celebrity underwent a rhinoplasty procedure but you were not exactly sure what the procedure entailed.

The word Rhinoplasty can be broken up into two parts, rhino-meaning nose or nose-like structure and plasty-meaning molding or repairing surgically. When you combine the two you get the word Rhinoplasty-to repair or mold the nose surgically.

A Rhinoplasty is known more commonly as a "nose job". During this procedure tiny incisions inside the nose are made which allow the surgeon to access the underlying nasal structure. Once the skin is opened, the cartilage and bone are reshaped to form the new look. Typically, recovery time for a rhinoplasty lasts 3-4 weeks and includes wearing a splint on the bridge of the nose to help with the recovery process.

A strong animal rights supporter

Hilary Duff - Philantrophy - A strong animal rights supporter

Hilary Duff
Hilary Duff
has stated numerous times that she’s a strong animal rights supporter and has commented, when asked what she would be doing if she weren’t a celebrity,

"I always wanted to be a veterinarian when I was younger, but then I figured out that animals actually die there, so that was not the job for me. Definitely something with kids or animals or something like that."

Celebrity Plastic Surgery: Best and Worst of 2010

Considering Plastic Surgery?
When considering undergoing a plastic surgery procedure it is always better to go more conservative. The goal is to enhance your beauty and accentuate and highlight your features. In 2010, there were many celebrities that went overboard with plastic surgery procedures. The three worst procedures according to celebrity cosmetic surgery were:

3. Heidi Montag – Ten plastic surgeries in one day – Too much has been said about her already, so I’ll make it brief: Too Much, Too Young. A sad epilogue to her plastic surgery adventure is the untimely death of her plastic surgeon followed by her subsequent trashing of him on national TV. Can you say, “No Class?”

2. Lindsay Lohan – Lip enhancement (unverified) - Between court appearances and rehab Lindsay apparently found time to visit a plastic surgeon to plump her lips to unnatural proportions. Freaky Friday, indeed!

and the absolute worst plastic surgery of 2010….

1. Octomom Nadya Suleman –This nitwit thinks she can fool us by denying she’s had a tummy tuck after having a massively stretched out abdomen from octuplets! Her tummy is now flat as a board. It’s literally flat like a wooden board, with absolutely no definition, loose skin, or contours. Plus, her belly button looks like her surgeon either created it herself or inset it as a vertical slit. This is a telltale sign of a tummy tuck. Hopefully in 2011 obscurity will welcome back the Octomom with open arms.

Also from Celebcosmeticsurgery.com, here are the top 5 best plastic surgery procedures of 2010.

5. Alexa Ray Joel – Rhinoplasty – Subtle, but nicely done. Alexa admitted the surgery to People Magazine, stating, “I was thinking about getting this for years. It’s always bothered me a little bit. I was self-conscious of pictures taken from the side.”

4. Lisa Rinna – Lip reduction – Good for her! Lisa’s famous trout-pout was downsized earlier this year as she underwent lip reduction surgery. Her lips now have ‘normal’ proportions and look great. Although my peeps tell me she may have had some minor complications, everything looks great. Nice job by Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Garth Fisher.

3. Jane Fonda – Facelift -Ten years after saying she would not have plastic surgery, Jane decided to go under the knife. In her blog, she admitted, “I just had some ‘work’ done on my chin and neck and had the bags taken away from under my eyes…” After surgery photos reveal a youthful look without appearing pulled or tight.

2. Kate Hudson -Breast Augmentation (unverified) – Kate appears to have had a conservative breast augmentation this year, likely going from a AA to a nice B. Even better, she didn’t get back together with that creepy Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes.

and the number one Best Plastic Surgery of 2010 is….

1. Julie Bowen –Breast Augmentation(unverified) – The star of my favorite program on TV (Modern Family) and one of my all-time favorite shows (ED) looks fantastic. Julie’s breasts fit her body well and are not excessively large, therefore look fairly natural.

Subtlety is the goal when it comes to a cosmetic procedure. You may want people to know if you have had an enhancement but when people can't tell if you have had work done it's a compliment to the surgeon and a compliment to yourself that you have great natural looking results.
