You may have heard of a Rhinoplasty procedure before you were not sure exactly what it meant. Maybe you were watching Access Hollywood or E! News and heard that a celebrity underwent a rhinoplasty procedure but you were not exactly sure what the procedure entailed. The word Rhinoplasty can be broken up into two parts, rhino-meaning nose or nose-like structure and plasty-meaning molding or repairing surgically. When you combine the two you get the word Rhinoplasty-to repair or mold the nose surgically.
A Rhinoplasty is known more commonly as a "nose job". During this procedure tiny incisions inside the nose are made which allow the surgeon to access the underlying nasal structure. Once the skin is opened, the cartilage and bone are reshaped to form the new look. Typically, recovery time for a rhinoplasty lasts 3-4 weeks and includes wearing a splint on the bridge of the nose to help with the recovery process.
